The Spirit of God

Something to think about.

The Spirit of God

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16

This exhortation, suggestion command is very difficult to follow.  Primarily because we have delegated the spirit of God to a vague window of existence.  We acknowledge His existence, but we deny His involvement.  We know that He existed before the world began because the Bible in Genesis has him hovering over the earth. Genesis 1:2 We know we were promised the Holy Spirit by Christ.  Acts 1:4 We know that He lives in us. 1 John 4:4 I could go on and on with biblical reference about the person and the work of the holy spirit. But would it make a difference? To be lead by the spirit of God and to walk in the Spirit of God requires more that acknowledgment and acceptance. It requires obedience and submission.  Without the outpouring of the Spirit of God Christianity may have died on the cross with Christ. This is why Christianity is under attack now. Because we have denied the power of God through the Holy Spirit of God. Without the Holy Spirit alive and influential in our lives all we do is thrash about. Without any ability to influence the world around us.

6 Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, “This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ saith the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:5-7

A Spiritless Christianity is a powerless Christianity.

Isolated

Something to think about.

Isolated

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews13:5
, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”Matthew 28:20

These along with other Bible verses assure us that God will be with us always that He will never leave us or abandon us.  Are you aware this only applies to believers?  The favor and presence of God do not accompany or commune with the unbeliever.  What we enjoy and sometimes take for granted is not something the rest of the world experiences.

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.1 John 4:4 (ESV)

The spirit of God only abides in those who are children of God. Do you remember the loneliness, emptiness,  and isolation you live with, without God?  Do you remember how hopeless you were when you faced the mountains of life in the isolation of self? If you are a Christian, celebrate the Spirit of God in you but recognize the utter aloneness that the world experiences without God's Spirit in them. People are empty, alone, and hopeless, and they don't even know it. They are as we were empty, isolated and secluded. "Feed my sheep" means to introduce them to Christ that they would invite the Spirit of the Lord to come into their lives, that they would be lonely no more. So, that they may overcome him who is in the world, and that they may be made complete in Christ. Let our former selves motivate us to share the new life that is in us with those who are lost, friendless and alone.
