Wait, Delay, Holdup, Interval, Interlude, Intermission, Pause, Break 

²⁵ The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him. Lamentations 3:25 (NKJV)

⁴ Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
⁵ Lead me in Your truth and teach me,

 
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day. Psalm 25:4-5 (NKJV) 

Passive is a word that I would use to describe the word wait. Waiting is a passive time when one delays expectation or accomplishment. I've always thought of a period of waiting as a time when nothing of consequence is accomplished.  As I looked at verses on waiting I noticed something, passivity was not part of the intent.  In Lamentations, it says "wait and seek," In Psalms, it says "show, teach, lead, none of these words are passive. None of them are used as synonyms for the word wait.  

Waiting on God is not a passive time. It is a time of accumulation. A time to accumulate the wisdom and strength of God. It is not passive it is preparatory. During a time of preparation, your waiting to be ready to move forward.  I still become inpatient when I and in the process of building a piece of furniture. Though I am working, I am waiting to get to the place where I can see the finished product. I have to wait till I prepare all of the parts before I can move forward with the actual piece.  A time of waiting is not an empty meaningless filler. It is not time unnecessarily spent without accomplishment.  Even the most famous of wait verse in the bible is not passive. 

Isaiah 40:31 ESV But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. To renew your strength does not mean lie down and do nothing. It means to do those things that will rejuvenate you. In this verse, it means to reacquaint yourself with God.

Wait on the Lord does not mean to be passive and fruitless. It means to prepare for what the future will bring. It means intentionally spending time seeking God. It means positioning yourself to learn from God. It means to take time to learn the truth of God. It means to learn of the salvation of God. Waiting on God is the most productive time of your life. It is the time when you will prepare for life, for victory, for overcoming, for winning.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

How do you find the “Kingdom of God”? We are told by Jesus to seek the "kingdom of God," but we are not told how. Or are we? Jesus ads “and his righteousness” if there is one are attribute or characteristic of the “kingdom of God” it is righteousness. Righteousness can only be attained through Jesus. So if we are to find the kingdom of God we must seek the righteousness that Jesus has imparted to us then and only then will we find the "kingdom of God." Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

A Sobering Thought

4 May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, "God is great!" Psalms 70:4

 "May all who seek you," this phrase is not inclusive of everyone.  There are people who will not seek Him. There are people who know of Him that will not love His salvation. There are people who will not say "God is great." 

It is incomprehensible to me that anyone would not seek Him, love His salvation and say "God is great." However, we can not and should not focus on those who won't seek Him.

We need to rejoice and be glad in those that will, in those that through our efforts will embrace the goodness and greatness of God. God is good, God is great, and His love endures forever, and I will rejoice and be glad in Him. I do love His salvation, and I will proclaim in all situations Gods is great.

Draw Near

Draw Near

⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)

Many people believe in God and therefore believe they will receive the blessings of God.  Having faith and no fruit is like having water and not drinking it. You must exercise your faith to please God in order to be blessed by God.  He who practices active faith to please God is the one that will receive the blessings of God. Active living faith is the only way to know God. If you want to know God and receive the blessings of God,  you must turn your faith into action.

All These Things

³⁰ But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ³¹ Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³² For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. ³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:30-33  (ESV) 

I need to seek after the kingdom God and His righteousness. We need to take this statement personally. We want so much; we have been educated to think we can bring what we want into existence by our works. So many achievers, after having achieved their dreams are left wanting. We are better off, seeking after the kingdom of God and His righteousness than our dreams. As we walk into Gods kingdom and His righteousness, we are given the desires of our hearts. It is and always will be God First.

   seek his presence continually! 1 Chronicles 16:11 (ESV)

What would it be like if we were in constant communion with God? Do you realize God is alive? Every living thing interacts with its environment when you’re in the presence of God His presence will interact with you. It can’t be helped.
