It's A Matter Of Value

By the end of this day, most of Florida will have experienced the worst of Hurricane Irma. Between now and then lives will be changed. All the worry and anxiety will have passed, and real life will resume.

27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! Luke 12:27-28

Jesus is speaking to His disciples when he tells them about the lilies of the field. He is saying if God spent so much effort in creating something that is here today and gone tomorrow. How much more valuable are you, who have an eternal existence. God knows who you are He knows what you need. He can and will provide and protect you. If you are in the midst of the storm or out on the furthermost edges of its power God values you more than you can imagine. He will come to your rescue if you call on Him.Jesus is speaking to believers in Him. Faith is the identifier of those who are called God's children. Faith is the doorway to protection, provision, and the favor of God. Faith is the determiner of your value.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Whether you are in the midst of the storm or on the outer edges, put your faith in Jesus, and He will provide a way. You and your family will be saved.

The Currency Of Heaven

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
²⁰ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21 (KJV) 

 

The underlying theme of these verses is currency, money, wealth anything of value. Notice that all the currency in verse 19 can be lost in one way or another. In verse 20 it is saying save a currency that will not be destroyed. When you consider that after the resurrection all will be made new, a new body a new earth, what currency can we possibly store in heaven? The answer is that which will exist forever, the soul of man. How many souls will be saved because of your efforts? Though we don't have any way of knowing the answer to that question we know that the more we use our lives to bring people to Christ the greater will be our currency in heaven. There is no other action or result God will honor in heaven, the currency of God is the soul of man.

Unsurpassed Value

8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ. Philippians 3:8

The world does not possess anything of sufficient value to replace Christ. All the riches of the world do not achieve any value before the knowledge of Christ. He is simply worth so much more.
